Under the Sea Mermaid Birthday!

Get ready for some underwater fun as we share Sophie's 4th birthday! We can't think of a more creative way to celebrate a summer birthday than with an "under the sea" mermaid party!! For Sophie's party invitations, we started with a bright, sea-inspired color scheme and paired it with some of our favorite ocean elements including seashells, starfish, seahorses, and of course...a mermaid!! A Nico and Lala birthday wouldn't be complete without coordinating party swag, which helped Sophie's mom transform the party space into an underwater wonderland. With a party visit from mermaid Ariel herself, we don't know a single little girl who wouldn't want to be part of this mermaid birthday party world!

We DIED when we first saw these octopus marshmallow pops...so creative and cute!
While Sophie and her guests we coloring scenes from the Disney movie that inspired Sophie's party...they got a surprise visit from the Little Mermaid!!

Wedding Reception Menu Cards

When people think of wedding paper, save the dates and invitations are often the first things that come to mind. But today, we're focusing our attention on a pretty piece of paper that is present at the reception...menus!! Wedding reception menu cards really bring together the entire table, while also coordinating with the rest of the wedding paper. They also offer a plethora of functions. Many couples choose to include their "thanks" to their guests as part of their menus. Menus can also act as place cards, helping guests find their seat. Because reception menus are such a versatile item, we've been playing with the size, shape, color, and printing styles to make menu cards the perfect finishing touch to the table setting!! Check out all of the awesome things we've been doing with wedding reception menu cards!
Wedding Reception Menu Cards
The receptions cards for this Palm Beach wedding, held at The Breakers, were perfectly preppy and chic! To see more pictures from the bride and grooms big day, be sure to visit Alden and Frank's real wedding gallery.
These elegant menus perfectly accented the bright decor at Lindsay and Paul's Nantucket wedding. The couple included a sweet thank you at the top of their menu.
Laura and Will's menu was mounted on apple green paper, which made the menu really pop on the reception tables!! To see more pictures from Laura and Will's Chicago wedding, be sure to visit their wedding gallery!
We love round menus! They perfectly nestle inside plates at the reception, and make such a statement!!
We also love a brightly colored square menu, printed in white ink! So fun!
For this elegant menu, the couple's new monogram was blind embossed at the top. The menu also doubles as a place card, with each guests name done in green calligraphy below the wedding date!
At Nico and Lala, we specialize in branding weddings from beginning to end. Every piece for your wedding, starting with your save the date and ending with reception details like menu cards, will perfectly coordinate and make a statement your guests won't forget! Calligraphy Wedding Invitations

Happy Wedding Wednesday!!

When most people hear the word calligraphy, they think of a beautifully addressed envelope adorned with swirls and elegant lettering. But we love the gorgeously creative way that calligraphy is used on what's inside the envelope, on the wedding invitation. Over the past year, we've done some pretty incredible wedding invitations with seriously lovely lettering. But in true Nico and Lala fashion, we've given these traditional calligraphy wedding invitations a modern spin by taking classic lettering and combining it with more trendy printing styles (like foil-stamping)! Take a peek at some of our all time favorite invitations featuring calligraphy.
Calligraphy Wedding Invitations
Claire and Chris' wedding invitation utilized both calligraphy and a simple block font to make the couple's names stand out! Printed in gold-foil, their elegant invitation also featured beveled edges which were painted gold.
Kali and Matt's calligraphy wedding invitation was also done in gold-foil, but was printed on a stone colored paper. The invitation was wrapped in a delicate gold ribbon, and was sealed with the couple's wedding monogram.
Kate and Joe's custom wedding invitation was done in full calligraphy, and also printed in gold-foil. Their wedding ensemble was wrapped with a hunter green ribbon, paying homage to the wedding's location in Aspen, Colorado.
Wedding invitations which feature careful calligraphy have to be paired with an equally as beautiful envelope! This envelope, done in dainty gold calligraphy, had us swooning for days!

Did all the pictures of Claire and Chris' calligraphy wedding invitations leave you wanting more? Be sure to check out more pictures from their big day, over on our real weddings gallery!!

Things We Heart: August Edition

Happy August! With a new month, comes new things we heart!!!
1. Foil Stamping: It's no secret that we have a crush on anything done in foil-stamping. Not just like....LOVE!! It offers a true metallic shine for those looking to use gold, silver, or rose gold. It also offers bride's the option to bring a chic, modern update to their wedding invitations, without straying too far from the classic, traditional invitation. This summer, we've gold foil stamped basically everything that we can. From wedding invitations, to reception menus, to favor tags...our motto has been if it's not moving...gold foil stamp it. This week, new business cards for Zofia & Co. Photography arrived from our printer, and they were GORGEOUS. They were SILVED foil stamped, with light pink edge painting....we're obsessed.
Zofia's silver foil stamped business cards...SWOON!!
We LOVE doing gold foil on menus for the wedding reception!! And of course, on the new "Mrs. and Mrs." stationery!
And our favorite...gold foil wedding invitation!! Gorgeous calligraphy!

2. Nantucket: At the beginning of July, we took our first visit to the beautiful island of Nantucket. We fell in LOVE!! We got to meet with some of the best wedding vendors on the island, many of whom we've been working with for years (over e-mail)!! It was such a great experience! We even got to have a photoshoot with Zofia (yes, from Zofia & Co. Photography with the gorgeous new business cards), and can't wait to get our new pictures up on our website! We'll be sharing full details of our trip soon, but until then...we're still having sweet dreams of Nantucket.
Sneak peek at one of our pictures taken from our Nantucket photoshoot with Zofia!
It wouldn't be a proper N&L trip without these ADORABLE hangover kits. Love the anchors and lobsters!
3. Bachelorette Parties: Bachelorette party love is still going strong in the N&L studio. Ever since we shared this amazing Scottsdale bachelorette party last fall, we've gotten the chance to create SO many creative bachelorette party swag!! From Lilly Pulitzer inspired bachelorette parties to a boots on bachelorettes...we've done it all!!

4. N&L Interns: We had three amazing interns with us this summer: Caroline, J.C., and Gabby! Two of them are leaving us this week (sad!), so we've begun our search for fall interns!! The new semester is quickly approaching, and we're looking for some help in our Chicago studio. If you are looking for a fall internship (or if know of someone), we want your resume!! Please send all resumes to: info@nicoandlala.com.
