Memorial Day in Chicago

Happy Memorial Day weekend, y'all!! If you're spending the long weekend in the Windy City, than you've come to the right place! We're sharing five of our favorite ways to spend your extra day off!
1. Brunch: No proper weekend in Chicago is complete without brunch! One of our top picks? Summer House Santa Monica in Lincoln Park. Not only is their food amazing, but their interior decor is to-die-for! They even have a countdown to summer on the wall...so fun! On your way out, be sure to grab a cookie from the front cart. They have the most creative flavors, and are always delicious!
2. Beach: If you're not from the city, it might come as a surprise that yes...Chicago has beaches! All Chicago beaches open this weekend, so take a stroll down the lakefront trail and find a spot on the sand! It's a great place to take in a couple rays and the beautiful Chicago skyline!

3. Baseball: The Cubs take on The Washington Nationals at Wrigley Field on Monday afternoon! Grab a ticket to the one o'clock game, and spend the afternoon cheering on the Cubbies! After the game, head over to Houndstooth (an Alabama bar in Wrigleyville!) which brings a great touch of the south to Chicago!

4. Boats: Tourists and stay-cautioners alike should experience a Wendella Boats Architecture Tour! It's the absolute best way to see the sites and learn the history of the famed Chicago architecture. Plus, if the weather is nice, it's not a bad way to spend the afternoon!

5. Booze: If you're taking in the sites and shopping on the Magnificent Mile, stop by Luxbar in the Gold Coast and grab a cocktail!! This is one of our absolute favorite spots to grab drinks after work! If the weather is nice, grab a spot on the patio, order a couple of cocktails, and enjoy your extra day off work in the Windy City!

Ginger Jar Inspiration

We love when brides come to us with creative ideas for inspiration. Especially when that creative inspiration happens to be one of our favorite decorating accessories...ginger jars! Mallory and William tied the knot last November in a preppy, oceanfront wedding on Saint Simons Island. After receiving their pictures of their ginger jar inspired wedding, we're feeling majorly inspired by everything blue and white. Take a peek at some of Mallory and William's ginger jar inspired wedding, and all of the things we love inspired by chinoiserie design!
Mallory and William's preppy, chinoiserie inspired save the dates featured the couple's custom wedding monogram, as well as the iconic blue and white colorway.
The couple's ginger jar inspired wedding invitation was printed in white foil stamping on china blue paper. Their envelope was lined with a navy and white chinoiserie pattern.
To properly welcome guests to their Saint Simons Island wedding, we helped the couple create wedding weekend itineraries which coordinated with their ginger jar inspired wedding invitations.
For the couple's blue and white wedding programs, we printed their custom wedding monogram on the front cover, and tied the booklet with a china blue ribbon.
Something blue for their beach front tablescape! We love the white and green centerpieces held inside ginger jars.
The couple's custom wedding monogram even adorned cookies at the couple's reception!
We had so much fun working on this classically beautiful wedding, inspired by ginger jars! Congrats to the happy couple, we had so much fun working with y'all! To see more of Mallory and William's chinoiserie inspired wedding, visit their real wedding gallery over on our website!

We have to admit, looking through Mallory and William's wedding pictures brings out our blue and white obsession. Between the gorgeous ginger jars and monogram accents, we are inspired to shop for summer! Check out some of our must have's below, inspired by their ocean-front nuptials:
Have y'all seen that the talented Katie Kime is coming out with a clothing line?! To say we're excited is an understatement. She's been giving sneak peeks of her apparel line on her Instagram, and some of her collection is now available for pre-order on her website. Some of our favorites include a banana leaf maxi skirt, a "queen bee" shift dress, and a two-piece frock featuring ginger jars. Swoon!!
We've never seen a tote bag look better than this Ginger Jar tote from Waiting on Martha. The ginger jars accented by a bright pop of coral is absolute perfection.

It's no secret that we're all huge fans of Lilly Pulitzer in our studio. So when we saw this Sloane V-Neck Maxi from their summer line...we died! The Bay Blue Yacht Sea pattern highlights sailboat sails in a classic blue and white coloring...so cute!
The only thing better than a house filled with blue and white ginger jars is a pillow adorned in the same chinoiserie inspired design. We absolutely love this Blue Canton pillow by Dana Gibson!
The perfect way to show your blue and white love while staying cool this summer...this Chinoiserie shirtdress from Anthropologie.

Our best selling item is back! Our lucite catchall is available in a china blue toile pattern, inspired by classic ginger jars! The inserts are reversible, and easily slide in and out giving you two swanky patterns per catchall. Perfect for your nightstand, vanity, desk, kitchen counter...anywhere! Our catchalls measure 6 x 6 x 2, and are $30 each. To order, e-mail Meghan at meghan@nicoandlala.com.

Elegant Vintage Southern Wedding

We're excited to share that one of our weddings from last summer is featured today on Style Me Pretty! Jessica and Travis tied the knot last summer on Jessica's family farm in High Point, North Carolina, in a ceremony that perfectly blended vintage chic with Southern charm decor. Combining rustic elements (inspired by the beautiful farm venue) with vintage inspired pieces, their wedding day was everything we love about Southern weddings!! Take a peek at some of our favorite pictures from Jessica and Travis' elegant vintage chic southern wedding below!
Jessica and Travis' romantic wedding invitation were die-cut, and printed in golf foil on a beautiful blush paper. For the couple's envelope liner, we featured a colorful peony pattern, which also highlighted the couple's wedding date.
We love Jessica and Travis' amazing Southern wedding welcome boxes. The kraft colored boxes were wrapped in a blush ribbon, and had a floral sticker on the front that said, "Welcome down South, y'all." Inside their Southern wedding welcome boxes was an issue of Garden and Gun, a hangover kit, Krispy Kreme donuts, two vintage bottles of Coca Cola, and a wedding welcome packet. Their wedding welcome packet included a welcome note from the couple, a weekend itinerary, a list of placed to eat and visit around High Point, and hand drawn map!
Sweet touches of gold foil were abundant on their wedding day, and was featured on their wedding favor tags (which were jars of honey made by the bride's family bees).
So pretty, right y'all?! To see more of Jessica and Travis' wedding, head over to our real wedding gallery and Style Me Pretty!
